What’s happening this Valentine’s Day?

Have you thought about how you’re going to make this year’s Valentine’s Day extra special? Whether you’re planning on spending it with loved ones or friends, we’ve compiled a list of fun things to do around the city. We’ve gathered activities in three different categories; keeping active, trying something new and spreading some love. Which category do you think would be best suited for you?

 

Keep yourself active

 

Table tennis

Monday 14 February at noon

Sport For All are running a casual Table Tennis session which is open to all Newcastle University students. You can join for a quick game or stay for an hour, it’s completely up to you. Meet new people and hear more about sports programme opportunities. Find out more here.

 

 

 

 

Hadrian’s Wall daytrip 

Sunday 13 February at 10am

Did you know that Hadrian’s Wall was the inspiration for Game of Thrones? You can explore the beautiful North East landscapes with this guided daytrip. Spending time in nature with your loved ones or friends can be a great bonding experience. Find out more here.

 

 

 

Lundgren Tours Glasgow trip

Due to popular demand, NUSU are working with Lundgren Tours to bring you a fun filled trip to Glasgow. The city boasts an array of top-notch restaurants, famed for its friendly locals, and it’s something of a shopper’s paradise. Find out more here.

Language class

Monday 14 February at 6pm

Learning a language is on a lot of our bucket lists but something we never quite get around to. Why not start this Valentine’s Day? Join NUSU for a Valentine’s Day special where you’ll be learning the language of love in different languages. You don’t need any previous experience so just show up and be ready to learn some romantic phrases. Find out more here.

 

 

 

Bathbomb making

Monday 14 February at 6pm

Fancy making your own bathbomb that you can takeaway and use for relaxation and self care another time? Give it a Go have organised a trip to Lush where you can have a go at creating your very own bathbomb. Bathbomb making has always been a popular pick so make sure you don’t miss out. The Pottery Experience

The Pottery Experience is a family run pottery cafe where you can make and paint your own pottery whilst enjoying a coffee.  Remember the day by making some love themed pottery and swapping it with your loved ones. It’s conveniently located in Jesmond. You can take a 30 minute walk from the Business School or get the metro from Monument. Find out more here.

 

 

 

Biscuit decorating

Monday 14 February at noon

It’s not Valentine’s Day if we miss out the sweet treats. Take a quick break from university work by making some personalised biscuits you can share with the special people in your life. Or you can have them all to yourself with a cuppa! Find out more here.

 

 

 

Spread some love

 

Post Pals

Friday 11 February at 1pm

Spread some love by writing cards, letters and emails to sick children and their siblings for UK charity, Post Pals. This is a micro-volunteering session that does not require commitment but you can always comeback to contribute when you have some free time. Find out more here.

 

 

Procrastiknitting

Friday 11 February at 4:30pm

Procrastiknitting is a fantastic opportunity for new and experienced knitters, crocheters, and sewers to practice and enhance their skills, all while helping the community. They have weekly meetings to work on bonding squares and cannula sleeves for premature babies in hospitals. Find out more here.
