Creating together

When I first came to Newcastle, being a food lover I am, I was scared that the food options here would be limited. But I was definitely proven wrong! The restaurant options here are endless. From places to dine on a budget to luxury restaurants worth experiencing, Newcastle has it all for you.

So, I have compiled this handy list of places to hit whether you are craving for some comfort food or some sweet desserts. Perfect to satisfy all your craving needs.

Best noodle place: Jasmine Bakery House

As a student coming from a tropical country, Indonesia, I am still not used to the windy and cold weather of Newcastle. Thus, noodle in soup has always been my go-to option, especially during these winter days.

Jasmine Bakery House offers a wide range of toppings to accompany your soup noodle whether it is beef flank or wonton. Alternatively, this small, homey bakery house is also known for their stir fry noodle. With most dishes under £10, this hidden gem is not only filling but also highly affordable for students who tend to live on a budget.

Best British restaurant: George’s Great British Kitchen

One thing I am mostly excited about whenever I visit a new country, is to try their traditional foods. Arguably, local pubs with their relatively cheap prices tend to be the chosen place to enjoy British food. However, George’s Great British Kitchen has quickly become one of my favourite restaurants to visit.

They serve good and proper British food with a unique twist and a modern touch to it. They offer foods from traditional fish and chips to fish burger with prices ranging from £10-20. This place might seem a little bit pricey, but it definitely gives good value for money.

Best dessert place: The Great British Cupcakery

If you have a major sweet tooth (like me) and constantly feel the urge to try new dessert places, The Great British Cupcakery should be on your list of must-go places in Newcastle. Located near the quayside, this place is just the perfect place to relax from all the hustle and bustle of the university life. The Great British Cupcakery is famous for their amazing cakes but most importantly for their cool looking shakes.  The Great British Cupcakery is famous for their amazing cakes but most importantly for their cool looking shakes. The Great British Cupcakery is famous for their amazing cakes but most importantly for their cool looking shakes. They have a different range of shake flavours that are not only huge in size, but also named uniquely, such as Geet Big Shakes and Bonny Blue.

My personal favourite is their Cookie Dough shake. This milkshake comes with mountainous cream tops with four cookies nestled on top to decorate. In terms of price, these shakes are slightly more expensive than the normal shakes but it is definitely well worth the money (and the calories)!

Newcastle Continues to surprise and delight with the cuisine and I continue to explore the city’s hidden gems.
