Meet the Class of 2020 – Cess Robinson

  • Hi, I’m Francesca, I joined Newcastle University four years ago to complete a Business Management degree. I spent my year third year in industry, working as a HR Business Partner for Unilever in London.
  • It’s hard to pick a single favourite memory of my time in Newcastle, because there has been so many! I’d definitely say that moving to Jesmond in my second year and living with some of my closest friends has to be one of the best memories. The University Ski trip to the Alps was also one of my favourite memories at University, we had so much fun and met so many great people.

  • The best thing about Newcastle is the vibrant and lively city. I instantly felt at home when moving up to the City from Leeds. The people are so friendly and there’s so much to do, from visiting the Quayside, to exploring the beautiful beaches only a short journey away and making the most of the fantastic nightlife.

My advice to new students would be to make the most of every opportunity at University. The years go by so quickly so you should get involved wherever you can, whether that’s with societies or opportunities such as becoming a Business Ambassador. I would also advise students to go to their lectures! It will help you so much when it comes to assignments and exams. You can spend your time revising and completing extra reading, rather than re-capping!!

  • In five years’ time, I see myself as having a successful career with a fantastic company, thanks to my first class degree from a Russell Group University! I hope to achieve a favourable work/life balance so that I can continue to experience life with family and friends, and travel to some amazing holiday destinations in between!
